1. Keter Store-It Out Midi Outdoor Plastic Garden Storage Shed, Beige and Brown

Let’s start with the Amazons choice, the beige and brown Keter store-it out midi. First thing to note with this is that it’s available in a black/grey, which may be more your theme, but the black version costs a bit more.

At first glance, the 130 x 74 x 110 cm storage unit is the perfect balance between being too big and being too small, making it compact enough to fit it into any garden. Since it’s amazons choice and is priced well, it seems perfect for basic garden tool storage.

The unit has a top lid that can open as well as side panels that open outwards, so its easily accessible and makes grabbing tools that bit easier. It also has built in supports that can act as shelving brackets, so you can easily place some material on both ends to act as a shelf. To make sure its secure, it has a standard lock on its front-so you don’t need to worry about security.

Even without these handy features, it has a heavy duty base but remains lightweight at 17.5 kg (lightweight for an outdoor garden shed!) and so you don’t have to worry about a weight limit. The 845L capacity was plenty of space for storage, and to put it into scale, you could easily fit two wheelie bins in there. Your gardening tools should fit just fine and you can easily arrange them to fit however you want.

This shed was the cheapest out of the options on amazon, but its value for money is impressive. The ability to put shelves in became really useful, especially if you want to just open the lid and quickly grab something-you didn’t have to reach to the bottom.

Despite this, it does have one drawback: large appliances such as a lawnmower can fit (most models) but once in, you won’t get much else on the large side in.

You might squeeze a leaf blower or hedge trimmer in there too, but in reality, this storage shed is not for storing multiple heavy appliances. Even though it can take the weight, the 845L capacity just isn’t enough to get absolutely everything in.

Nevertheless, this shed takes top spot for its accessibility and ease of use-the duel openings and the space for shelves allows you to place smaller tools near to the top, but heavier items at the bottom to be easily retrieved through the front doors. It can take heavy weights and easily locks, and many reviews have noted it as a great product for this and in particularly its compactness. It can fit anywhere in the garden and for the price, well, its an absolute steal.

To complete its utility, it’s entirely waterproof and shouldn’t fade overtime. No leaks or water collection was seen, making this the perfect storage shed with few personal or reviewed drawbacks.

If space is the key thing you’re looking for in an outdoor garden shed, then this shed is for you. If you have much larger appliances such as lawnmowers which a smaller, compact outdoor garden shed won’t cover, this 185 x 183.5 x 200 cm shed will sort you out. It looks great from the outside as beige/brown and would be a great aesthetic to any garden.

It has one door (that’s all it needs) which is easy to lock and secure, as well as some extra ventilation at the back to keep air flowing. The slanted roof reduces the space inside slightly, but not massively. It feels spacious inside and has room for plenty of different gardening tools. It also has an opening window, so if you need more air to flow, you can. It looks great and is an all round aesthetic, spacious outdoor garden shed.

Although, its worth noting it is quite lightweight, but since you’ll be using it for storage of heavy items this should not be an issue. It is also priced sensibly for what it is, which is a little step but after all, it is a large shed and so is bound to be more expensive.

On the flip side, it is Amazon’s choice and has plenty of positive reviews. No issues have been reported with water leakage, and although the price is a bit steep, it is an all round good shed. The reason it doesn’t get to the top would be due to the price and possible lack of strength.

Even though many similarities was seen with this storage shed to the Keter store-it out taking the top spot, there are a couple of elements to it that prevent it from being the best outdoor plastic garden shed. The first of which is price, which whilst not too high or much higher than the store-it out, is still £127 at this time. At 130 x 74 x 110 cm, you’re not getting any additional storage space compared to the store-it out, despite the higher price.

That said, it still has both a top lid and side doors that allow easily accessibility, as well as a safety lock on the front. It weighs slightly more than the store-it out, but this isn’t too noticeable.

However, reviews have noted it isn’t all that waterproof and isn’t actually that robust. Some have struggled to fit larger objects in such as bikes or lawnmowers, but its not impossible. Either way, these are drawbacks which could affect the use of this shed in the long term.

It’s not overly high in price and is still a compact, handy outdoor garden shed. Its accessibility makes it useful despite its drawbacks, as accessibility of a garden shed is the most important quality. However, being waterproof is also a key quality of a good outdoor garden shed, as is strength. For that reason, it doesn’t make the top spot on this list.

The extra large version of the Keter store-it out might not seem to different to its original, but there are quire a few differences. Before the differences are pointed out, it’s worth noting that this is a great outdoor garden shed with everything you need it to be. Its water tight, can withhold strength and is easy accessible.

In terms of size, it really isn’t that much bigger than the original Keter store-it out despite being extra-large. It measures at 141 x 82 x 123.5 cm, which is bigger, but I’m not sure I would call it extra-large. Despite this, it also weighs in at 33 Kg, which is almost twice as heavy as the original.

This is probably due to its thick, reinforced double wall panels-a feature which guarantees strength. This also reassures you that the chance of water leaking in is slim, so its structural features are great. Furthermore, it has the top lid and side door panels just like the original, so it’s just as accessible.

In fact, it’s got a couple of extra features that make it more useful as an outdoor garden shed. This includes built in supports for shelves (like its original) and also a piston assisted lid, making tool exchange far easier. Whilst this is good news, it prices at £180 currently, and for an “extra-large” version of something that costs far less with similar features, it doesn’t make a top spot in this list.

Then again, if the original box hasn’t quite got enough space, then this is for you!

Out of all the Keter outdoor storage sheds in this list, this was the best looking. Slim yet tall, this particular shed has an aesthetic wood effect exterior with a beige and grey contrast, with an apex roof and the windows for added affect. It also has ventilation slots for extra air circulation.

It doesn’t just look good either-it has a heavy duty floor panel and is made of fade-free plastic with steel reinforcement. The strength and size of this outdoor garden shed makes it perfect for storing large items or accessories. Also, the vertical nature of the object makes it compact enough to fit in your garden, as it makes up for it in height.

The added height means you wont have to crouch down when putting away your tools-an added bonus to say the least. It comes in at a price of £350, which is steep for something of this size, but then again you pay for what you get. Many reviews on this product describe the integrity and utility of this shed, especially the fact it hasn’t worn out over time and is easily accessible.

Although, a couple of things to consider with this outdoor garden shed. Most of the negative reviews report it to be difficult to put together, with the instructions being a bit limited and confusing. However, many have succeeded in building this shed-so our advice would be to read the instructions carefully!

Last in our list is the GSD Keter high plus store, which is a different design to the others in this list, but is still a handy storage shed for your garden. Measuring at 140 x 73 x 170 cm, the products only has two doors opening outwards, meaning you can always store things on top if needed. However, there’s plenty of space inside-so you should have enough room for your items.

The spacious interior is waterproof and corrosion resistant, so this product should be lasting you a while. Its heavy duty and should support the weight of anything you put in-as well as being easy to assemble and robust enough to be reliable.

A great addition to this outdoor garden shed is that it comes with two included shelving units, so you don’t have to worry about installing your own. This is optional of course, adding more flexibility to the product. Its compact and has a sleek, basic design which is not the most aesthetic in this list, but still looks good in the garden.

The only reason it doesn’t rank higher is down to price-and the fact the other products are that little bit more ergonomic. Prices vary depending on the seller but is averaged at £400, which is steep for the size and space available. Nevertheless, its durable, compact and stores items just fine-so this is an outdoor garden shed suitable for those who need reliability and aren’t afraid to splash the cash.

Buyers guide for outdoor plastic storage sheds

To ensure that you get the right outdoor garden storage shed for you, there’s some key things you need to look out for. If your chosen product doesn’t have one of the following features, it could compromise its usefulness in the garden, and might not last as long.
Roof-Apex or flat?

This might seem like an odd thing to look out for, but when buying your storage shed, differences in the roof are key. Firstly, if you have a flat roof, chances are you’re going to use it to temporarily put items on. When you’re out in the glistening sun, sometimes just leaving your tools about is ideal rather than putting them away-so a flat roof is useful.

However, an apex roof simply looks a lot nicer, and makes the garden more aesthetic. Rather than something which is just shaped like a box, an apex roof adds a bit of spice. Then again, you cant leave things on top of an apex roof, so really it depends what you want-handiness or decorative features.

Weather Resistance

Possibly the key aspect of all garden sheds. Given that garden sheds will be found in well, a garden, its key that they will last outside. This means that waterproof material to avoid leaking is key. This can ruin the quality of tools and allow bacteria to grow (Bacteria found in the garden thrive in warm, water-rich conditions).
Furthermore, If your chosen shed has extra resistance to rust or weathering, this is a bonus. Whilst plastic is generally more resistant than other material, there’s no harm in having additional protection.

Size of your outdoor plastic shed

Seems like an obvious aspect to consider, but the size of the outdoor garden shed is key to how it looks and functions. More space the better, but if you really don’t have many tools or large items, what’s the point in spending more? As well as this, smaller gardens will need smaller sheds, and vice versa.
Our advice would be to take a look at the space in your garden where you might want your shed-and getting an idea of the size. Then, when looking at your choice of products, refer to the product dimensions. Check if this will fit/how big it will look, compare it to others and you’re good to go.
Even if you know what size you want, the size can make a difference to how it looks in the garden. Sometimes, a more compact look makes things look good, but larger gardens might want larger sheds to fill some space. This is personal to your garden, of course, but it’s worth considering before buying.

How it’s put together

Not the most important but also worth considering-no one likes a painful setup, right? Even though once you’ve built your outdoor garden shed you’ll be good to go, easily buildable products are much better. On the flip side, more screws/parts indicates that the strength of the product is much better than simple assembly products.
So what should you do? Well, all outdoor garden sheds are designed to be sturdy, so either way you’ll get the strength. On the other hand, if your product will come with screws/fixers and it doesn’t look complicated, this is recommended.
